Marquis Who's Who Millennium Magazine

411 A Marquis Who's Who Magazine A merican politician Brad Henry once said, “A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning.” When he stated this, he was talking about teachers like Florence Weinberg, whose goal was to help teach the future leaders of tomorrow. After receiving her Ph.D. from the University of Rochester, Ms. Weinberg was ready to make a difference in the lives of her students. Her teaching career began as an instructor of modern languages at St. John Fisher College. She was promoted to assistant then associate professor of modern languages and stayed in that position for eight years. She continued to progress at the school, becoming department chair while serving as full professor of modern languages from 1975 to 1989. Her final position at St. John Fisher College was director of international studies. In 1989 she became professor and chair of the department of modern languages and literatures French and Spanish at Trinity University in San Antonio. She published four scholarly books. In 1999, Ms. Weinberg retired from teaching and became a full-time writer of historical fiction. Ms. Weinberg has produced numerous novels over the course of her writing career, many of which are religion-based and one written in French. Along with her astounding publications, she has also had the opportunity to obtain residency at The Hambidge Center for the Creative Arts & Sciences in 1999 and 2001, 2003 to 2007, 2009 and 2010. Ms. Weinberg is a member of the Modern Language Association of America, PEN America, The Renaissance Society of America, the Sixteenth Century Society & Conference, Women Writing the West, and Toastmasters International. While she has received many accolades and awards, which are too numerous to name, her biggest accomplishment is being a finalist and/or winner of 10 literature awards in eight years. Although retired, Ms. Weinberg continues to nurture the minds of many through her rewarding writing career. Florence Weinberg, Ph.D. Language Educator San Antonio, TX
