504 MILLENNIUM W ith nearly 40 years of experience in the field, Akbar Rasul Tamboli is known for his ability to solve complex problems related to structural design and manage large, fast-track projects involving structural steel and concrete. Mr. Tamboli is responsible for major structures in the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, including high-rise buildings, health care facilities, research laboratories, offices, residential developments and hotels. He began his career as a senior engineer for Miller Associates from 1967 to 1969. He later relocated to New York City, where he served as an associate of Edwards & Hjorth for six years before transitioning to roles as a senior project engineer and consultant engineer in New Jersey. He returned to New York City and was vice president of the office of Irwin G. Cantor, PC from 1981 to 1991, and later became senior vice president of Thornton Tomasetti, where he has remained since 1999. Mr. Tamboli is a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and member of the American Institute of Steel Construction and the American Welding Society. He has edited several handbooks relating to structural engineering. T heodore Taub is an attorney for Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP in Tampa, Florida, a firm that is focused on their commitment to clients and their work in the community. Before settling in his current position, Mr. Taub obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University in 1956 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Florida in 1960. He also served as an assistant city attorney for the city of Tampa from 1963 to 1967, and a city attorney for Temple Terrace from 1974 to 2007. Staying true to his firm’s mission, he has been a panelist in his field and an active leader in his community, serving as chairman of the Tampa Hillsborough County Expressway Authority from 1974 to 1984, and a member of the Hillsborough County Charter Commission from 1966 to 1969. He was also on the Local Government Management Efficiency Committee in 1979, the Florida Environmental Efficiency Study Commission from 1986 to 1988, and founded the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. During his career, Mr. Taub has contributed articles to many professional journals and is currently involved in leadership research.
