29 A Marquis Who's Who Magazine D aniel C. Andreae is an award-winning academic with many years of professional experience in the field of education, having taught 45 different subjects at universities and colleges. Dr. Andreae has always had a passion for education and a dedication to lifelong learning. He believes that education is not just an intellectual exercise and is most effective and rewarding when the head meets the heart and learning can be applied to enhance the quality of one’s life on an emotional, physical, spiritual, and social level. He holds an undergraduate degree from York University in Toronto, a Master of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University and a doctorate in education from the University of Toronto. Through pursuing informal education he earned a doctorate of science, specializing in neuroscience with an interest in pain management. Dr. Andreae has been an outstanding community advocate as the first executive director of the Alzheimer Society of Toronto, chair of its Patrons Council, and the longest-serving president of the Ontario Association of Social Workers. He currently chairs the Patrons Council of Brain Injury Canada, the Canadian Abilities Foundation, and the interdisciplinary advisory committee for the Psychology Foundation of Canada, among other involvements. For his many notable contributions to his community and society, Dr. Andreae has received numerous awards, honors and recognitions from academic institutions, governments and several community organizations.
