82 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine author, he has contributed myriad articles to esteemed journals, along with four publications in the “International Encyclopedia of the Social Sciences,” second edition. To remain abreast of developments in the field, Dr. Eslinger has maintained affiliation with the National Council on Family Relations, the Society for the Study of Social Problems, the American Sociological Association and the North Central Sociological Association, where he notably served as vice president for two years. He has been featured in numerous editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education and Who’s Who in the World. Looking toward the future, Dr. Eslinger plans to continue teaching, and continuing research on large-scale organizational changes in the society of the United States. He also hopes to find more time to pursue his favorite avocational activity – fishing for bass with artificial lures. I nterested in history, social reform and why societies are organized and how they change, Dr. Kenneth Nelson Eslinger was also intrigued by how social institutions influence social behavior. Earning a Bachelor of Arts from Indiana State University in 1963, he went on to receive a Master of Arts and PhD from the Ohio State University in 1968 and 1971, respectively. At the inception of his career, he served the Ohio State University as an assistant professor of sociology for one year before transferring to the Cleveland State University in 1973, where he served in the same capacity until 1980. Dr. Eslinger commenced his tenure at John Carroll University in 1980, serving as an assistant professor of sociology for five years before being promoted to the rank of associate professor, a role he holds to the present day. During his tenure at the university, he has also served as acting chair and chair of the Department of Sociology from 1995 to 1996 and from 1997 to 2005, respectively.
